Free-diver Dies of SWB in Australia

A man by the name of Thomas Nicholson was free-diving – (diving without any breathing equipment) – about 50 meters off the coast on November 7, 2011.The man's friends alerted a nearby boat that their companion had failed to surface, and police attended a short time later. The man's body was retrieved by police divers late yesterday in about 20 meters of water. Police are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine his cause of death. The owner of an Albany dive centre said Mr Nicholson could have suffered a shallow-water blackout.
