SWBP Announces Three New Board Members

Shallow Water Blackout Prevention is pleased to announce the appointment of three new board members, Chadwick Watson, Patricia Watson, and Layla Alo Caballero.

Chad Watson, Vice Chairman

Chad and Trish Watson have recently joined the board of SWBP. Chad serves as Vice Chairman and Trish as Secretary.

Chad is the President and Co-founder of Charter Financial Group, a wealth management firm located in Annapolis, Maryland. He is well-known throughout the country as a leader in the financial industry. Chad, a 1988 Naval Academy graduate, finds joy in mentoring young people in the community and serving in philanthropic capacities. He loves God, family, country and friends

Trish Watson, Secretary

Trish has resided in Annapolis for 33 years where she and her husband raised their four children. Their family continues to grow with two beautiful daughter-in-laws and their first precious grandchild. She gives her time to various philanthropies and community ministries. Her life is focused on her faith, family and relationships. Trish graduated from Indiana University.

Chad and Trish became aware of SWBP when their son, Chandler, experienced a SWB while vacationing in 2019. Their family has been featured in a short film entitled “Don’t Hold Your Breath”. The film will be available for public distribution in early 2023.

Layla Alo Caballero

Layla Alo Caballero has been appointed Chairman of the Ambassador Division of the Board of Directors.

Given Layla’s talents in the communications field, she has felt it her obligation to help others to learn about Shallow Water Blackout, especially among Latino families.

Layla lost her nephew, Eduardo Jose, at the young age of 19. He drowned in her home's backyard pool as he was playing water games holding his breath and challenging her son Daniel who at the time was only 7.

18 years later, after losing her sister Lourdes Alo ( Eduardo's mother) to lung disease, she decided to join Shallow Water Blackout Prevention to help generate awareness, and do this on behalf of her family. Layla has been a loyal Ambassador to the region of South Florida for several years and was instrumental in creating the Global Ambassador program details.

SWBP is also pleased to announce the addition of a new staff member, Erin Watson.

Erin Watson, Assistant Director

Erin Watson recently started with Shallow Water Blackout Prevention as the Assistant Director. She learned of Shallow Water Blackout when her husband, Chandler Watson, experienced it back in July of 2020. Erin, Chandler and his family worked to create a documentary about his experience to help raise awareness. Since then, the whole family has become very involved with SWBP.

Chandler attended his mom’s alma mater, Indiana University, where he met Erin. They were married in 2019 and now live in Annapolis, Maryland with their newborn son, James, and golden retriever, Wilson. Erin previously worked in senior living but is now working with our organization to help raise awareness. In her spare time, she attends church, spends time with family and friends, and enjoys exercising and traveling.
